Tony Volcano, a baby who lives with his struggling single mother, is convinced that the moon is his father. One night, Tony takes the first of many journeys into the night-time world searching for the truth. He befriends a teenage junkie, imposter moons, a giant dog, and a droopy-faced messenger. Oh—there’s also a mysterious fax machine found in the alleyway—an alley that Tony thinks might be the hiding spot of face-eating pigs. Baby in the Night is a fable full of wonder, unexpected humor, innocence, tragedy, and a melancholy firmly laced with magic.

About the author: the legendary Kevin Sampsell lives in Portland, Oregon. He curates the small press section at Powell's Books, where he’s worked since 1998. His memoir, A Common Pornography, was published by Harper Perennial in January 2010. Tin House published his novel, This Is Between Us in 2013. His collection of collage art and poems, I Made an Accident, was published by Clash Books in summer of 2022. Kevin is the founder and editor of Future Tense Books.
